Individuals who live in poverty want the same things for themselves that we do – a means to earn enough money to be able to take care of the needs of themselves and their families and an opportunity to thrive and become self-sufficient. When they are given the right tools, they are very driven and capable of improving their own lives. The Unstoppable Foundation provides these tools through education. And it is education that creates a ripple effect for the family, community and for generations to come.

These tools not only include safe and clean classrooms for the children to learn, but clean water solutions so the girls can attend school rather than spending their days walking miles to draw and carry water. We empower the mothers and fathers to generate a sustainable source of income, increase their savings, and even start their own businesses so that they can support their families and lift themselves out of extreme poverty. We support health clinics so that the children’s health is addressed and they don’t miss school due to illness.

All our in-country partners have implemented development models that include more than just “education.” For example, in Kenya, we support the Adopt a Village development model created by Free The Children. Adopt a Village features four pillars for community development all based on the premise that no problem and no solution stand alone. Each pillar provides crucial support to facilitate and sustain community development.

We’re all familiar with the idea of adopting a child. This is the same concept on a broader scale. We work in partnership with the communities so that in five years they can take over the ownership of the project.

It’s not charity but community empowerment in the truest sense of the word.
